First Friday Minutes July
WSFA 7-3-15 Prez Bob the Mac in charge. 9:14. First Friday in July. Survived the monsoon of June. No minutes frm last meeting. Minutes were waived. Bill read the seconds. Fifth Friday, Sam L. volunteered to host. Third Friday in Virginia. Then August normal meeting schedule.
Capclave Present. Capclave is in contact with GoH about transportation. Will do a mailing with DC17. Online registration 2 to 3 a week. Price goes up at the end of July. ?Capclave Future is talking to hotel person about finding hotel visits.
Capclave Far Future has nothing to report until September.
Trustees have nothing to report.

Once again invited the members of WSFA to the Fabulous Bungalow for their annual 4th of July 2015 Party.

Upcoming discussion topics for the Committee to Talk about SF. Discussions take place after the Main Business Meeting at the 1st and 3rd Friday meetings of each month.
The Committee to Talk about SF will discuss the April/May issue of Asimov’s at the Third Friday meeting tomorrow (May 15th, 2015). This is the special Philadelphia issue with stories by four Philadelphia authors.
The June 2015 First Friday meeting will discuss the May/June issue of F&SF.
The June 2015 Third Friday will discuss the Hugo short stories, novellas, and novelettes
The July 2015 First Friday will discuss the Hugo novels
The July 2015 Third Friday will discuss the WSFA Small Press nominees (only WSFA Member can read or vote on these stories).
The August 2015 First Friday will discuss the July/August issue of F&SF.

WSFA First Friday May 5-1-15

Election meeting. First Friday now in active 9-16 pm. Minutes on the website. No old business. Meeting switch planned in July. June is normal schedule as is August. May third Friday is in Virginia but up in air.
Treasurer’s report $38490.23. Change year to year is because ‘WSFA Press is paying its bills. Trustees have election meeting. Ballot subject to change. Bill wants to vote the Sparty slate. Cathy if we elect her to office, we have to find a new place to hold the meeting. New member last meeting.

Due to an unforeseen emergency, the May 2015 WSFA Meetings have been swapped.
MAY 1st meeting will be in MD at the Madigan’s home.
May 15th meeting will be in VA at the Scheiner’s home.

Members and friends of WSFA, come to the Arlington, VA planetarium this coming Sunday, March 22 at 1:30pm! The Friends of the Planetarium (a local non-profit group) and Fast Forward:Contemporary Science Fiction are sponsoring a special panel on “Putting the Science in Science Fiction”. Authors Catherine Asaro, Tom Doyle, Edward M. Lerner and Alan Smale are scheduled to participate. You can reserve seats now (there is a modest fee to defray facility costs) at www.friendsoftheplanetarium.org.
Other science fiction related events are also happening during the weekend as well! Don’t miss it! — with Catherine Asaro, Edward M Lerner, Alan Smale and Tom Doyle.

March First Friday
9:16 meeting called to order by Bob.
We have money. Everyone who has not needs to pay dues so they can run for office and vote.
Trustees: Slate is wide open.
Capclave Present – Continuing to work on Capclave. We have a fan table at ReGeneration Who.
Capclave Future is looking for hotels
WSFA Press – contract is now signed. We are doing a special limited trade hardcover of “Slow Bullets” by Alastair Reynolds. Will be $40, with special $30 rate at Capclave. Signed limited edition of 1000.
The WSFA website is ticking along. Unless people give them content, there will be no content to put up. Capclave twitter has 129 followers.
Policy committee is still working on procedures.

Beware of the dog. Allright folks, said Bob, 9:15 Third Friday for WSFA.
Bill objected. Secretary not here. Sam L taking notes. Did not have a meeting on First Friday due to World Fantasy. No old business that Bob remembered. Bill said Cathy promised to do a journal. She is tabling at Philcon.
No treasurer report. He is calculating revenue.
Capclave Past. Bill said has hotel bill, all other receipts are in so should have a report by First Friday. I’ll be at SMOFcon so won’t be at World Fantasy, I mean WSFA. Cathy doing recruitment for Capclave.
Sam L. for Capclave Present looking for programming person as the Zipsers had to decline.
Far Future not here.
