NOTICE TO MEMBERS AND OTHER CONCERNED PARTIES
Over the next few weeks, a backlog of WSFA journals will be published to this site. Management regrets the delay and appreciates your continued patience while normal publishing operations are restored.
In 2022, in order to meet ISO compliance requirements, the Journal master copies were placed into a filing cabinet of non-Euclidean design. Subsequent evaluation indicates that the cabinet does not conform to conventional filing methodologies, including alphabetical order, chronological order, or causality. The cabinet is larger on the inside, contains several overlapping timelines, and emits a low humming sound when opened. We are confident that the missing Journals remain contained within the cabinet, possibly under “J.”
Due to these conditions, journals may be published out of numerical order. Current procedure is to publish recovered material as it emerges, after which a determination will be made as to whether the contents can be arranged in any meaningful sequence.
A subcommittee has been convened to study the cabinet. The cabinet has also convened a subcommittee. Formal negotiations are underway. Field tests confirm that opening the cabinet at an incorrect angle may result in duplicate issues, missing decades, or an unexpected editorial from the 1970s. Further experimentation has been suspended pending review. Please stand by.
Updates:
ISO-9001 requires documented control of records. It does not explicitly prohibit records that are temporally displaced, multiply instantiated, or mildly sentient. The cabinet remains technically ISO compliant.

The 7/4/25 Fourth of July Meeting was held at the Pomerantz/Overton Fabulous Bungalow at 2:30. As far as I could tell attendance included: Bob, Bill, Elaine, Carolyn, Cathy, Lee Strong, Rodger Sam L, Judy N, Kim, and Chris. There was no online meeting.
Minute were waived, treasurer’s report waived. Bob said we have money. Not hurting for cash. Sam for Capclave said invites to the program went out. We need a programming
meeting. Cathy for publicity arranged or the sharing of Capclave stuff for conventions. Email Cathy about distribution of fliers. Bill said he arranged for the Capclave gifts. Sam will send Bill the email about shirts. Need to check with Shirin about programming. Cathy volunteered to be Point of Contact for dealing with her. Arrangements were made
for a Capclave meeting.
Rodger for Capclave Future said will send out GoH invites. Committee reports: Sam L. gave the schedule for the committee to talk about SF. Cathy
gave her list of rewards for voting on the WSFA Small Press Award. August 3 deadline.

The Washington Science Fiction Association (WSFA) is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2025 WSFA Small Press Award for Short Fiction:
The award honors the efforts of small press publishers in providing a critical venue for short fiction in the area of speculative fiction. The award showcases the best original short fiction published by small presses in the previous year (2016).
An unusual feature of the selection process is that all voting is done with the identity of the author (and publisher) hidden so that the final choice is based solely on the quality of the story.
The winner is chosen by the members of the Washington Science Fiction Association (www.wsfa.org) and will be presented at Capclave (www.capclave.org), held this year on September 19-21, 2025 in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
