The meeting was called to order at 9:26pm. There was no report from either the Secretary or Treasurer.
DISCLAVE '89
Mike Walsh reported that he has already started selling Disclave's Shepard\Potter book. He noted that the Hotel has signed a contract for Disclave.
DISCON III BID
The meeting was being held in their party suite and would segue.
NO QUORUM WAS PRESENT AND THUS NO BUSINESS WAS DONE. (Of course, had there been a quorum, venerable tradition would still have held and no business would have been done, anyway.)
John Pomeranz announced that Marty Gear had had another Heart Attack but was recovering nicely. A "Johnny Carson" Balloon procedure had been tried but had not worked, still Marty is on the mend.
The World Fantasy Con will have Ursula LeGuin as GOH when it comes to Seattle.
Other things were announced but Mr. Mayhew could not remember them or decipher his notes.

The third Friday WSFA meeting for November was held at the home of Kent Bloom and Mary Morman. The meeting was called to order at 9:08pm by president Erica Van Dommelen. (The general consensus for order was a pepperoni pizza.) The secretary reported that minutes for the October meetings were in the WSFA Journal and read the minutes of the meeting at PHILCON. The treasurer reported $8556.93 in the WSFA funds. The acclamation from the floor seemed evenly divided between a party and an audit. The trustees had nothing to report.
DISCLAVE PAST: Tom Schaad reported receiving approximately $3000 from NESFA for our use of their credit card processor at the Disclave art auction. This amount is not reported in the current balance given by the treasurer.
DISCLAVE CURRENT: Mike Walsh reported that he has a contract with the hotel. The corkage fee is set at a total of $50. (This probably is a typo - but WE aren't going to point it out to them!) The room rate is $62 plus tax. We will try to keep the pool open. Mike has galleys of the Shepard book. 23 copies have been pre-sold so far. The selling price is $30 + 5% Maryland sales tax for Maryland residents. He is doing a mailing at the 1st Friday WSFA meeting for December at Kent and Mary's.
ENTERTAINMENT: The Third Friday meeting will be held at the Gillilands. It will be a tree-trimming party. Cocoon II theatre party is set for November 21st at the Odeon on Wisconsin Avenue. Alexis will hand out tickets out from between 7 and 7:15.
DISCON: Kent Bloom reported that we will mail a PR on Sunday at 1pm at Peggy Rae's.
OLD BUSINESS
Tom Schaad wants us to donate money to the Noreascon legal cost fund. LA and Atlanta were both asked to donate money from their worldcon profits and were shitty about not wanting to do so. Tom Schaad made the following motion: "WSFA will make a directed grant of $1000 to Noreascon III." Joe Mayhew seconded the motion. The motion passes unanimously. Tom Schaad will form a committee to entertain suggestions on how the grant should be used.
NEW BUSINESS
The WSFA New Year's Eve party will be at Jack Heneghan's and Elaine Normandy's on New Year's Eve. Jack and Elaine will not be there until after midnight, but the party will go on anyway.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Erica Van Dommelen asks that no one phone her on Friday evenings to ask her where WSFA is. She is taking a nap and being woken up makes her very grumpy at WSFA. Phone Mary or Kent at 593-6247 instead. Marion Zimmer Bradley had another small stroke this week. She is recovering. Lance Oszko is looking for a house to share. Phone him at 703-823-0514. Joe Mayhew is looking for someone to do the Con Suite at UNICON. He feels this action will assist the DISCON bid. Lee Strong is back from college and has a private office. He has published a non-fiction article in a techie journal. Steve Vaughan-Nichols is having girl baby. Harlan Ellison is doing TV commercials for Toyota in San Diego.
