Sam ScheinerThe Chair thanks everybody; he is in Connecticut. GoH really enjoyed his gifts. “best gift in 40 years”. Everything went well. Final attendance: 251 preregistered, 16 at the con, 13 daily, for 315 total. We also got 59 preregistrations for Capclave 2009.
We probably made about $1000.

The Committee to Actually Discuss Science Fiction:
Bill LawhornThey’ll be discussing the double issue of F&SF. At Third Friday, they will discuss the double issue of Asimov’s.

The January First Friday meeting will be at the Scheiners’ as usual. We’ll be meeting in Cathy Green’s apartment from February through September. The Webmaster wants directions, especially driving directions. There is some (not much) on-street parking. There was a brief demonstration thanking Cathy. (Chanting, but no signs).

- Robin Sullivan, Michael Sullivan found us while looking for cons. Robin works with publishers and does business side workshops. Michael’s novel The Crown Conspiracy is out published by Aspirations Media.
- Aaron Siegal found us in the Washington Post Book World.
- David Bartell has been published in Analog. He saw Capclave mentioned in a magazine.

Announcements:
- Welcome to new folks.
- Bob Macintosh showed an example of the fleece jacket that Bill Lawhorn has been planning on getting. If we get enough orders, we may get the price down to $30/ea. Contact Bill for details
- George Shaner got a promotion, and may be looking for a house.
- Mike Walsh was at WFC despite sausage making backstage. Next year’s con will be in San Jose over Halloween. The 2010 con will be in Columbus, OH.
- Sarah Kaplan is looking for a ride to the Metro Red line in Rockville
- Kathy Overton thanks helpers for Halloween. They had 244 people go through.
- Tina Abel reminds us that we need to re-up in January. She is close to getting her tax preparation certificate, and is planning on doing taxes, with a discount for WSFA members.
- Lee Strong has leftover goodie bags from Capclave. He has also gone to a couple of SF/Fantasy meetups and an meeting of an Edgar Rice Burroughs group. He will try to introduce them to WSFA at some point.
- Colleen Cahill announces that Scott Edelmen will be at the Library of Congress on November 19.

Meeting called to order at 10:15 PM, Trustee Lee Strong presiding, for the election of two new members of the Awards Committee for the WSFA Small Press Award.
The Trustees’ Slate was Charles Able, Colleen Cahill, Paul Haggerty, and Sandra Mitchell. There were no nominations from the floor.
